The NSW Department of Education and Training hosted a half-day seminar (the Skill Ecosystem Roundtable) to bring together demonstration project leaders, industry representatives and researchers to discuss project experiences and impacts.
Discussion focused on three themes:
- Casualisation and contracting out as a barrier to workforce development
- The links between VET providers, innovation and economic development and
- Lessons for VET providers about creating sustainable change in skill ecosystems
John Buchanan, Phil Toner and Kate Schofield drew on insights from research and their considerable practical experience to introduce each area (Toner and Schofield's remarks can be downloaded here, while Buchanan's analysis drew on recent research described in the November skillecosystem.news).
